A book like this is my idea of fun. What makes this a particularly interesting read is that it emphasizes both the diachronic and the synchronic in comparing and contrasting these three councils. By pulling out key themes, one can draw different insights by comparing those themes across the councils.
This is a good, worthwhile read. I suspect having O’Malley’s three monographs on the councils in the back of your mind helps, since this volume is relatively brief, and there is so much to be said.
